Have you ever been handed a pile of papers and told to organize it? Or given a project that’s already started, and told to complete it? In our business, it’s not uncommon to be given footage of interviews and be asked to make something of it. Pulling soundbites and producing an entertaining, yet informative video is our specialty. Cameraman Tom McCosky brought us this beautifully lit, multi-camera interview of Michael Small, Gogo’s President and CEO, as well as some field footage of the company and employees in action. Out of forty minutes of raw interview footage, our editor, Jeff Evenson, cut it down to a 3:30 concise piece about Mr. Small and the direction of the company. This short video really shows the teamwork between a cameraperson and an editor, and how we all contribute to producing what the client needs and wants. Now gogo take a look.  ...

It's been years since Jeff Evenson and Ed Pickart of motionpost have stepped foot in a university classroom. But for the past three years, they've been working on a masters of science in finance program, not for themselves, but for the students who are enrolled in Georgetown's McDonough School of Business. This new masters program which instructs in person and online, utilizes the nearly 300 videos edited by motionpost. "It was very intense, yet interesting, working with the professors of Georgetown. We helped design, illustrate and communicate what they are teaching future chief financial officers worldwide," Jeff Evenson said. "It was a lot of work and quick turnaround. We've helped them expand outside their bricks and mortar program to educate many in this unique masters program. Something we're quite proud to be a part of, " Evenson added. The Washington Post recently wrote about Georgetown's innovative program. Below is an...

Grandparents and parents have a gift of bringing up the good ol’ days and telling their younger audiences how good/hard/challenging/simple it was compared to today.  And though we may roll our eyes or remind them we’ve heard that story before, it is that family history that defines us. Unfortunately, it's all too easy to take that for granted until it’s too late. Through her years as a grief counselor, Sue Rhomberg has heard stories of loved ones who have passed and realized that those stories often get lost in time.  So Sue created Living Legacies and, with the help of motionpost, stories and family history is being preserved through video and stills; capturing the essence of the person and the spirit of the family.  Hearing the laughter or the pain through the subject’s voice, and seeing the photos and home movies bring the past to life in a way that can...

You're alone, in a small, insulated room. The only connection to the outside world is through the large headset you are wearing. You speak directly into the microphone in front of you, with your crisp voice almost startling you as you hear your voice for the first time through the headset. This is the beginning of a professional recording session. At motionpost, we are pleased to have the talents of Bruno Strapko, one of the best audio engineers in the Chicago area, to record, edit, and add finishing touches to our projects. We talked with Bruno about the recently completed audiobook, "The Chicago Killer: The Hunt For Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy." Joe Kozenczak, the lead investigator who broke the Gacy case, authored the book with his wife Karen. How long does it take to record an audio book? This book is about 240 pages long, and that took several sessions of...

We like to think of ourselves as problem solvers when clients come to us with a video challenge. Such was the case with a new Public Service Announcement (PSA) that was brought to us by Jasculca Terman PR. This important PSA is currently being used as a part of an educational curriculum and state bill campaign to prevent child sexual abuse. The challenge was to match the specific and high-end technical look of the previously shot on-camera narration of actress, Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife) and do it all for free. We connected with motionpost friend, director of photography and DePaul faculty, Pete Biagi. DePaul donated their Alexa camera and their stage at Cinespace Chicago. DP Pete Biagi and our lighting crew, all created a seamless look that we edited together and produced a PSA we are proud of. We at motionpost are honored to be a part of such an important tool of helping...
